HECTOR MOTA BUSINESS CARDS
For me to promote myself I needed a business card, and with that came a lot of concepting. What is my Logo? How would the business card look? What Information should It include? Although It took a while and followed many alterations, Iām happy with the result.
LOGO
I experimented with typographic and symbolic styles of logos, stylizing and simplifying what I could. I soon found a fondness for the Fennec fox head and tested a combination logo by including my name.
In the end, I decided to keep to just the fennec fox head as the way to represent me, like a stamp.
I decided to go with a Fennec fox because they give out a beautiful and majestic image. Despite that, they are nocturnal bags full of energy always making themselves heard and curious to try anything. With a big sense of family, I feel the Fennec fox is a good representation of me and my work.
CONCEPTUAL CARDS
With the logo finished I experimented with card designs. With so many little alterations, I asked for feedback from friends and family and eventually landed on the top 3.
And although seeing them on a screen is very nice, I had to have an idea of what it would feel like to have them in peopleās hands. So with some rubber cement, an Xcato knife, and some laying around playing cards I made some mock ups.
REFINING AND LAYOUT
With the concepts done and in my hand, It was time to refine my design. I knew I wanted to add color but what would be a good color harmony/ theme? After creating my character backdrop I tested out some different combinations.
Choosing my favorite 3 color themes I continued to the layout and positioning keeping to the original top 3 concepts I chose in the beginning.
Finally, after getting feedback from others I did the final edits and adjustments to the card, darkening some areas and adjusting the spacing.
FINAL PRINTS
With the layout done, backdrop, and colors chosen, I sent them to print. In the end, I really like how they came out. The information is readable, the layout professional, and with my character backdrop, I add bits of personality, further selling the fact Iām a drawing-focused person.
